West Farm Nursery
Top on my nursery list and recommendation for buying quality pawpaw trees grown in deep pots by a dedicated pawpaw aficionado is Charlie West from West Farm Nursery in New Jersey. Charlie grows out all his own seed, does all his own grafting, and ships carefully.

Twisted Tree Farm
Located in Spencer, New York, in USDA zone 5, Twisted Tree Farm sells select pawpaw seeds and bare root trees. Akiva Silver, the plantsman, only grows out seedlings of northern seed sources gathered from highly productive trees. His trees are one of the few sources for northern grown pawpaws. They will fare better in shorter summers and colder winters than the typical southern seed sources more commonly available. This likely is one of the most northern sources of pawpaw seed available.
Twisted Tree Farm is one of the few nurseries I would recommend for bare root plant material, as Akiva is a first-rate permaculture nurseryman that pays attention to quality and proper timing. His bare root offerings are one of the most affordable options for buying quality pawpaw plants.
Check out Akiva’s book, Trees of Power, and extensive video resources via his web site or YouTube page. www.twisted-tree.net
Edible Acres
Edible Acres is a permaculture and forest farm in Spencer, New York, that offers bare root pawpaws and a diverse array of plants.
From their website: Plants are available as bare root early spring and later fall, and during mid-sea- son, they generally come potted in one-gallon pots filled with our own homemade potting mix rich with compost, fungal life, and biochar. All our pots are reclaimed/reused and our potting mix contains no chemicals or artificial fertilizers.
Pawpaw trees available in two sizes: 1st-year seedling, tiny above ground but with a substantial tap root ready to lock in to its new home, and 2nd-year young tree that is bigger and more developed. First- year trees tend to catch up and exceed older trees, but some people want it bigger at purchase time. The choice is yours. www.edibleacres.org
Food Forest Farm
Food Forest Farm is co-owned and operated in Brooktondale, New York, by husband and wife team Jonathan Bates and Megan Barber.
From their website: We sell bare root improved genetic pawpaws, along with our other offerings. The seed is mixed parentage from the pawpaw Cornell variety trials (Middletown, Mitchell, NC-1, Overleese, PA-Golden, Sunflower, Taylor, Taytwo, Wells, Wilson, and others). We grow, supply, and teach about peren- nial vegetables and other multipurpose plants. www.foodforestfarm.com

Michael McConkey is the singing edible plantsman. His songs are as fruitful as his popular nursery in Afton, Virginia. If you have the good fortune to visit Edible Landscaping, you will see mature examples of many uncommon, yet easy-to-grow fruits to pick up for your landscape. Edible Landscaping also ships most of the year, as their stock is mostly container grown. www.ediblelandscaping.com
